A charity event organised by Specsavers which took place on Sunday has been hailed a resounding success.
Local woman Johanna Fielding had her hair shaved off with the funds raised being donated to Juvenile Diabetic Research Fund (JDRF), Derian House, Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs. The funds are still being counted and people can still donate online.
Her hair will also be donated to Wigs for Kids, a non-profit organisation that provides wigs for children who have hair loss from chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other causes.
Darwen based Rothwell Arts Dance Academy gave a special performance and shoppers snapped selfies with Derian Danni, the Derian House mascot as well as the giant Specsavers ear mascot.
There was a hamper up for grabs as well as a chance to win a pair of designer spectacles, a pair of specialised hearing protectors and two adult tickets for the Blackburn Rovers Vs Hull City home game on Saturday 19th August.
Johanna, who has worked at Specsavers in The Mall for five years, is delighted to have braved the shave to raise money.
Everybody had a great time on Sunday and Specsavers were thrilled to see so many people supporting our event. Not only did Johanna raise lots of money for four fantastic causes, but her hair, of which there was a lot, is being donated to Wigs for Kids.
Donations are still being accepted at https://www.justgiving.com/team/Jo-Specsavers or in store at Specsavers.
